Council Update from August 3
- Ken Tremblay, CEO for the Peterborough Regional Health Centre attended Council to provide information on the hospital's fiscal recovery plan
- The Rural Outreach Committee (ROC) will be making an application to the Campbell Community Kitchen Better Meals Program Fund to upgrade the kitchen facilities at the Deer Bay Hall
- The Township will be sending a letter of concern to the County of Peterborough regarding the on-going delays with the Deer Bay River bridge project
- Council appointed a compliance audit committee for the 2010 election
- A fire protection agreement was entered into with the Municipality of Highlands East
- The Township has signed a Memorandum of Understanding with the Kawartha Highlands Signature Site for the new parking lot off Beaver Lake Road
- Concern was raised with some recent incidents at Sandy Lake Beach and the Township will contact the OPP
Council Update from July 20
- A representative from Dental Homecare attended the meeting and gave an overview of the services provide. The group is interested in using a room in the Buckhorn Medical Centre to provide services approximately one day per week.
- A fund has been established to collect money for the purchase of a plaque for the Council Chambers recognizing the final Council at the former Township of Galway-Cavendish.
- Council awarded the tender for surface treatment (T-4-2010) to Royel Paving in the amount of $286,298.81; for the 4x4 pick-up truck (T-5-2010) to Jack McGee in the amount of $31,832.46; and for the pumper truck (T-3-2010) to Fort Garry Fire Trucks in the amount of $259,382.46.
- The well has been drilled at the Lakehurst Hall and the septic system has also been installed.
- The boards at the Buckhorn Outdoor Rink/Sports Pad are being installed.
