• Emergency Council Meeting - Mayor Janet Clarkson has called an 'In Caucus' Emergency Meeting of Council for Thursday, February 16, 2012 at 2:00 p.m. to discuss labour relations or employee negotiations as permitted under the Ontario Municipal Act, S.239(2)(d).  For further information please contact Lois O'Neill, Clerk, at 705-738-3800 ext. 240

Council Update for February 7, 2012

• Dan Taylor of the Greater Peterborough Economic Development Corporation provided a first quarter update regarding the activities of the corporation.  
• Andrea Dicks of the Community Foundation of Greater Peterborough provided an overview of the foundation highlighting the creation of philanthropic legacies, grant funding and community leadership.
• The number of incidents for the Fire Department increased to 417 for 2011.
• Galway Hall renovations are continuing to progress well. 
• Fence Viewers have been appointed for a term expiring December 31, 2012. 
• Applications are being sought for five fence viewers for a term January 1, 2013 to December 31, 2016 (contact the Clerk for more information).
• Council confirmed the process for the creation of a new logo for the Township and the tourism sign for the Buckhorn area.  Proposals will now be sought from graphic designers.
• Free Tipping Passes will be eliminated effective April 1, 2012.  
• A garbage bag tag (user fee) will be introduced with two free bags a week and $2 for each additional bag.  A further report will be coming forward from staff.
• The week of February 19 to February 26, 2012 has been proclaimed Guide-Scout Week.
• County of Peterborough 2012 recognition award nominations will be accepted until March 15, 2012.  Any member of the public or community group can submit a nomination to the County.
