Council Highlights Listing

April 2, 2013

  • Ivan Coumbs was congratulated as the Public Works Superintendent
  • For safety reasons the Fire Department will no longer be filling the water barrels in Buckhorn
  • Appraisals have been received for nine properties that were declared surplus. The properties will be sold by public tender
  • There will be a special "Closed Session" meeting of Council with the Buckhorn Regional Health Centre Committee on April 30th, 2013 at 7:00 p.m.
  • A special Council meeting will be arranged with the Economic Development Committee, Parks and Recreation Committee, Buckhorn District Tourist Association, Buckhorn Community Centre, etc., to discuss the Community Improvement Plan
  • Council has agreed to sponsor 4 "Muskies Canada" signs for fish identification which will be erected at the public boat launches
  • Council will consider the budget By-law on April 16, 2013
  • Council will be requesting the County to consider extending the length of time the EMS car is in Buckhorn

March 19, 2013 and March 26, 2013 (Special Meeting)

  • Council received the 2012 Consolidated Financial Statements
  • Council received a presentation from Greer Galloway Group Inc., regarding the Road Needs Study. Overall the roads are in good to very good conditions.  The study was approved.
  • Council agreed to supporting in principle the initiative by Metis Transportation Ltd., for the provision of transit service within the municipality
  • A road allowance adjacent to County Road 36 was sold to the adjacent property owner for $1,000
  • The municipality will not be participating in the Road Watch program at this time
  • The Fees and Charges By-law was revised to include the fee in lieu of parkland
  • Ivan Coumbs was appointed as the Public Works Superintendent
  • A Special Council meeting will be held on March 26, 2013 to discuss Canada Post addressing
  • The Federal Government may be changing the electoral boundaries
  • Canada Post will be advised of addressing as follows:
    • Gannons Narrows to Sandy Lake Creek and all roads in between will be designated "Lakehurst"
    • Sandy Lake Creek to Buckhorn and all roads in between will be designated as "Buckhorn"
    • Buckhorn to Burleigh Falls and all roads in between will be designated as "Buckhorn"
    • Buckhorn to County Road 507 at Flynn's Corners and all roads in between will be designated as "Buckhorn"
    • County Road 507 from Flynn's Corners north to the boundary of the municipality and all roads in between will be designated as "Trent Lakes"
  • Tender T13-2012 for the upgrades to the Alpine Village/Pirates Glen water system will be cancelled.
